Paper & Corrugated
Performance brands such as VaporCoat®, Plate Kote™, HydraBan® and many others are the recognized industry solutions for corrugated, cartonboard, food service items, and paper goods.
Corrugated boxes are a staple solution for the shipping and storage of fresh produce, other perishables, and environmentally sensitive materials. Microflute corrugated with recyclable barrier treatment is the material of choice to replace banned plastic packaging materials in single serve food containers. For new or old applications, Michelman has many trusted brands of barrier and functional coatings that cover the gamut of performance requirements.See products recommended for Corrugated.
Food, beverage, and consumer products are commonly packaged in folding cartons (aka folding boxboard). Although paperboard is a versatile carton material, a barrier treatment is often needed. Some examples include oil and grease barrier for food service containers; corrosion protection of metal parts; and in particular cases of dry food packaging made from recycled fibers, migration barrier to prevent food contamination from residual chemicals in the paperboard.See products recommended for Folding Carton.
Many converted paper products targeted for consumer and industrial purposes require specific functionality to perform in the field; qualities such as resistance to industrial oils and greases and to food products; release characteristics; and very low moisture vapor transmission. Michelman’s experience in developing solutions to these challenges was pioneering and continues to grow.See products recommended for Paper Products.
Pulp & Paper
Michelman wax emulsions and polymers are used in the paper mill to make paperboard water resistant. Example applications include gypsum-based wallboard and molded pulp trays.See products recommended for Pulp & Paper.
