Fiber Sizing

Hydrosize® film forming dispersions optimize the surface chemistry of reinforcement fibers that are integral to high performance composites. The diverse Hydrosize product range is optimized for a broad range of thermoplastic, thermoset, and very high temperature resin matrices. Hydrosize is applied during the manufacturing process of chopped or continuous strand fiberglass, carbon fiber, and natural fibers and fillers.

It is characterized by its small and very consistent mean particle size. As a binder it provides block resistance for soft goods. This product is APE free.

Useful as an additive in fiberglass sizing formulations used to reinforce polypropylene. This emulsion has a very high molecular weight, similar to a polypropylene coupling agent. The molecular weight enhancement should provide additional properties to the fiberglass, not achieved with standard low molecular weight polypropylenes. Being cationic in nature it should provide better adhesion to the glass fibers when processing and forming.
