Michelman Highlighted Innovation in Flexible Packaging at InnoPack F&B 2018 Confex

Mumbai, India (April 24, 2018) – Shailesh Nema, Michelman India’s Vice President & Managing Director introduced its Michelman Innovation Centre for Coatings (MICC) and flexible packaging technology to the many Food & Beverage (F&B) Industry professionals that attended the 6th annual INNOPACK F&B 2018 CONFEX. India is one of the largest markets for packaged food in the world, just behind the US, China, Brazil and Mexico. Its market is worth approximately $39.7 billion and is expected to reach $65.41 billion by 2020.

Because of the expanding market, Indian F&B companies are trying to balance growing consumer demands while improving product functionality through innovative and right packaging. Michelman’s presentation focused on solving the following demands:

Mr. Nema explained “Not only is India working on maintaining food quality, keeping products secure in transit, improving shelf life and minimizing waste through the right packaging, it is imperative that companies adopt innovative and sustainable packaging  to protect the environment and create better brand images in the consumers’ minds.” He continued, “This was a great event for industry executives to understand the upcoming regulatory expectations as well as how to adopt the latest technologies and innovations related to F&B packaging. We were proud to be a part of this event.”

Attendees at the event also viewed a video of the company’s new Michelman Innovation Centre for Coatings (MICC). The facility accelerates the concept-to-commercialization cycle through collaborative innovation with all members of the packaging value chain and features a state-of-the-art pilot line for optimizing packaging structures. The expanded formulation & application labs include Mocon® OTR/MTVR testing, hot tack testing, Gelbo testing and an ultrasonic stirrer.
