You will have overall responsibility for the plant assets in your area. You will provide leadership and support through daily actions, process improvement, waste reduction, and cost savings. You will lead cultural change at the site to guide EHS, quality, productivity, and cost savings improvements. You must be a results-oriented leader who can build strong working relationships and effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

• Optimize plant operations to improve EHS, quality, and productivity while lowering costs.

• Develop, improve, and implement production/processing methods that positively impact EHS, quality, and cost goals

• Troubleshoot and resolve long-term manufacturing problems that impede quality and cost-effectiveness

Productivity/Cost Reduction

• Establish process metrics and develop a system to achieve and maintain performance at the targeted level

• Monitor daily production schedule; take necessary actions to meet customer requirements

• Monitor performance to establish efficiency and quality standards

• Measure and improve upon all plant-related KPI categories

• Implement asset use tracking and drive batch cycle time improvements with minimal investment

• Identify opportunities to reduce waste generation and implement corrective actions

Continuous Improvement

• Analyze production operations/workflow and develop improvement recommendations

• Direct process capability and efficiency efforts to reduce overall operating costs and improve plant operations

• Lead corrective action and problem-solving activities and participate in continuous improvement activities

• Drive the procedure and work order review/update processes

• Identify improvement areas and implement actions to increase productivity and reduce cost

• Assist with developing and administering training on new and existing equipment and products for manufacturing personnel to ensure product/process consistency

• Drive improvements through the design, implementation, and startup of small projects

• Collaborate with regional project and global improvement engineers on front-end loading for large projects and assist with managing startup and training activities

Environmental Health & Safety

• Help develop and implement safety programs and initiatives

• Promote a safety culture on the plant floor

• Partner with EHS to guide the use of root cause investigation with emphasis on cause identification and corrective action implementation

• Participate in EHS studies, action item follow-up, risk analyses, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews

• Help develop and implement EHS-related programs including MOC, hazard recognition, and hazard communication

Customer

• Work with Technology Group to scale-up new products

• Work with Quality Group to resolve customer complaints and production quality issues

Other

• Must be able to climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 50lbs

• Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time

• Able to travel by car and plane and visit a global base of customers and facilities

• On call 24x7 for emergency issues

• Must be able to accommodate working nights or weekends as the situation dictates

• Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates

Education and Experience

• A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is required; chemical or mechanical engineering degree is preferred

• 2-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
