CINCINNATI, OH (February 25, 2015) – Softak® is an innovative water-based coating that increases the coefficient of friction (COF), or slide angle, of paper, corrugated and linerboard. It can prevent slippage of products and packaging that are used in transit for shipping or storage containers, and reduce costs associated with breakage or material handling accidents. Softak is also used when a tactile or suede-like feel is desired in addition to COF control. This sensory benefit is ideal for more exclusive and creative packaging applications.
Softak is used in numerous applications where slippage is a concern. Applications include tier sheets to optimize palletized load containment and minimize stretch wrap usage, decorative and furniture packaging, wine and beer boxes, jewelry and perfume packaging, and temporary floor coverings.
Softak is gluable with a wide range of hot melt and cold set adhesives. It is print receptive, recyclable and repulpable in both acid and alkaline systems. Softak can be applied with conventional coating equipment such as blade, roll and rod coaters and is typically offline to create pre-coated roll stock.
